Satellite participates in Melbourne Design Week opening night

Satellite Foundation is excited to have been part of one of the most important nights in the Melbourne design scene.

Melbourne Design Week is Australia’s largest and leading annual design festival, taking place from 23 May to 2 June 2024.

Last Thursday, 23 May, part of the Satellite team had the pleasure of attending the Melbourne Design Week opening night at the National Gallery of Victoria.

It was a fantastic evening, allowing us to enjoy and connect with other participants of Melbourne Design Week and the Melbourne Art Book Fair. We also had the opportunity to discuss our three projects featured in this year’s iteration of the event: ‘StigmaBeat panel,’ ‘IT’S A MAD WORLD,’ and our ‘Zine Machine,‘ which was part of the Melbourne Art Book Fair. The Zine Machine dispensed copies of our very own zine, ‘All the Coloured Glasses‘, with over 120 original artworks created by young people who have family members with mental health challenges.

All three projects involved aspects of co-design and co-creation, two very important elements of Satellite’s approach to working with young people.

Additionally, we were able to share more about what Satellite Foundation is all about and meet incredible people from the design world.

It’s been a wonderful opportunity to connect with young people who have been part of these projects, and we look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts.
